Majestic African Lions: A Close-Up Photo Journey

Following from the previous photo essay about African big cats, a further series of images highlights the nature of the the majestic African lion. Once again, I had excellent opportunities to photograph these magnificent beast of the African bush.

The above close-up portrait style photo shows a noticeable scar on the Lioness’ nose most likely a hunting or fighting injury. The Lioness has a powerful looking demeanour and is a lethal huntress.

The Lioness shows off her primary weapons showing the vast power of the mandibles used for carnivorous eating. The Lioness has a tracking device around her neck for conservation purposes.

A full body photograph of the Lioness displays her physical prowess and strength.

The male partner to the Lioness makes a charge along a dirt road in the game reserve. The Lion looks fierce and menacing as it approaches our vehicle.

The Lion stops short of our vehicle and belts out a beastly roar warning us of his superior physical power.

After intimidating us the Lion makes his way back into the bush along the dirt road he arrived from.
